Woodland District 50 Proof of Residency Set for August 1 and 2

Learning who your child's teacher is for the new school year, buying physical education uniforms, paying fees or obtaining free or reduced lunch applications are some of the activities available during this year's annual proof of residency event on August 1 and 2 at Woodland District 50.

The event for all Woodland families is held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day at Woodland Middle School, 7000 Washington St., in Gurnee. Families who are new to the Woodland community are asked to first send an email to registration@dist50.net before attending the Proof of Residency event. To attend the Proof of Residency event, please enter through the north or south doors of the building. There is no advantage to attending a particular day or time, but please expect longer lines on the first day.

The reason for the event is to confirm that all students attending Woodland schools are District 50 residents. All families with a child at Woodland for the 2018-2019 school year are required to prove the child lives in District 50.

Parents or guardians are asked to bring two of the following documents to prove residency:

For homeowners:

• Current property tax bill

• Current mortgage statement

• Current gas, electric, water, cable TV or home telephone bill (not a cell phone bill)

• Voter registration card or vehicle registration (with current address listed)

• Homeowner's insurance policy

• Driver's license, Illinois state identification card or Matricula card

For leaseholders/renters

• Current signed and dated lease agreement with terms listed and those residing at the residence listed on the lease and one of the following:

• Current gas, electric, water, cable TV or home telephone bill (not a cell phone bill)

• Voter registration card or vehicle registration (with current address listed)

• Renter's insurance policy

• Driver's license, Illinois state identification card or Matricula card

• Current Public Aid card

Parents of children with medical needs should bring their child's health forms, including the asthma action plan, allergy action plan and medication authorization.

NEW THIS YEAR: Signed authorization forms may be dropped off with the child's unexpired medication in the original container. Nurses will be available on both days to meet with parents and update individualized healthcare plans for children.

During the residency event, parents will be given their child(ren)'s school, class and bus information. Families will have the opportunity to pay fees; deposit funds in lunch accounts; buy spirit wear; purchase physical education uniforms for Middle School students; obtain information about PTA, including membership; obtain forms for fee waivers and free or reduced lunch applications. For students entering sixth grade, student ID pictures will be taken.

The PTA will offer a limited number of school supply packs for purchase on a first come, first served basis. Spirit wear and PTA memberships also will be sold with cash or credit card only.

This is the 12th year Woodland has enhanced measures to require proof of residency. The first day of student attendance for first through eighth grades is August 22 and the first day for Primary students is August 23.
