Aurora Methodists to offer prayers at farmer's market

Flowing Forth United Methodist Church in Aurora will offer free prayers at a booth at the downtown Aurora farmers market, 233 S. Broadway, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Aug. 4 and Sept. 15.

The public is invited to receive prayers - verbal or written - for individuals and their pets at the fourth annual booth.

One to three church volunteers - called pray-ers - will offer prayers for visitors in English or Spanish.

In addition to prayers, free bottled water, dog biscuits, pens, and church literature will be offered. Home-baked sweet breads will be offered for donations. The prayer booth is believed to be the Aurora market's first in its 100-year history - Illinois oldest - and unique among outdoor markets. Aurora resident and booth coordinator Bonnie McGraw said, "This prayer ministry involves praying aloud for people who probably don't attend our church. "They may have experience with prayer for or with another, or no experience with prayer. "Their concerns may be small or great. For pray-ers, this can be a very positive and uplifting experience. "Prayer is the best wireless connection. "God answers knee-mail. He is only a prayer away," McGraw said. Call (630) 897-5257 for more information
