Another successful car show and concert at the Bartlett Library

On Friday, June 8, over 300 patrons enjoyed an afternoon of music, cars, food and fun at the Bartlett Library during its annual "Car Show and Concert."

Festivities kicked off at 5 p.m. with a Car Show, where attendees were able to mingle with car owners and see their cruisers. People voted for their favorite car in these three categories: Best Paint, People's Choice and Makes You Want to Go Fast.

The winner of the Best Paint trophy went to Steve Turso with the 1951 Mercury Sled/Monterey; the winner of the People's Choice trophy was Mario Marrero with a 1950 Chevy 4-Door Deluxe; and the winner of the Makes You Want to Go Fast trophy was Marco Koslovich with a 1972 Dodge Challenger.

Throughout the festivities, the Friends of the Bartlett Library sold tickets for a 50/50 raffle (which raised $165), as well as tickets for their summerlong raffle. Tickets are still being sold at the library for the summerlong raffle, and you may go in at any time to purchase them. You can purchase tickets ($1 for one ticket or $5 for six tickets) to be entered to win a cooler and/or a 50" TV. Winners are drawn at summer Fravinia concerts (June 8, July 11, Aug. 8), but do not need to be present to win.

Also there showing their support was Dogfather Hot Dogs and the Puff Truck - Pizza Puff Food Truck. Attendees munched on burgers, hot dogs, pizza puffs and more into the night thanks to these vendors.

The Car Show was followed by a concert put on by The StingRays, who got the crowd dancing and singing along to songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. There was even a conga line going near the end of the concert.

The Fravinia Concerts are co-sponsored by the Friends of the Bartlett Library and the Bartlett Park District. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to this summer concert series to enjoy an evening of music and entertainment.

If you couldn't attend the Car Show and Concert, the next Fravinia concert takes place from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, on the library lawn. Attend the Peach's Beach Party concert to celebrate the spirit of Jimmy Buffett and his Beachcomber style! He says it best in his songs, "Growing Older but Not Up," "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" and "We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About." So put on your grass skirts or pirate hats and join in the fun.
