It's a summer of creativity at Mount Prospect Park District
Get ready to celebrate summer with color, imagination, creativity and collaboration at the Mount Prospect Park District Art Studio at 1326 W. Central Road at Melas Park. The studio offers year-round classes for children of all ages through adults. The studio also offers a popular custom birthday party program for boys and girls preschool through teen.
Programming is innovative every summer. Core art courses and camps are always part of the curriculum to refresh skills developed during the school year and keep the interested young artist challenged and busy.
Offerings include Introduction to the Art Academy, a weekly class from June through July focusing on skill development and technique as well as exploration in a variety of media. Other curriculum-based classes include Art Start Camp, Watercolor Galore, Step-by-Step Drawing, Mixed Media Madness, Amazing Acrylics and a 3-D "Art"rageous Workshop. All are for ages 8-14.
The studio also offers theme-based classes, which have a large and loyal following. Sign up for Slime-a-torium, Star Wars Art, Pixel Art, Space Galaxy, Dino-rama, Time Travelers and Cartooning, Anime and other specialties.
Bright colors and lots of glitter are studio staples in such classes as Fairy Garden, Princess Palace, DIY Dollhouse Workshop and Sun-Sational.
The Studio also offers a Family Paint Day and a summer Open Studio program to walk in and paint and has a full roster of adult watercolor and oil painting classes led by professional artists.
