Candy Days to bring funky '70s sound to Hampshire

The Shagadelics, a 1970s disco tribute cover band, is set to play at Hampshire Coon Creek Country Days on Thursday, Aug. 2.

To help offset the cost of hiring the band, the committee is hosting Candy Days now through April 15 where Fannie May candy bars will be sold for $2 each at various businesses throughout the village.

The 36th annual Hampshire Coon Creek Country Days will run from Thursday, Aug. 2, to Sunday, Aug. 5.

They are dedicating Thursday night to longtime Hampshire resident and former committee member Rose Bihun who passed away last fall from pancreatic cancer.

Bihun was a lover of 1970s and Motown music, and the committee has crafted "Disco Night" in her honor.

Hampshire Coon Creek Country Days Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization formed to host Hampshire's annual festival which raises money for community service organizations in Hampshire and in the counties of Boone, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage and Kane.

Candy can be purchased in Hampshire at Alanna's Beauty Boutique, Comprehensive Family Health, Fifth Third Bank, First American Bank, Heartland Bank and Trust Company, James Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, NAPA Auto Parts, Resource Bank and Stitching on State.
