Bartlett Librarian is a $1,000 grant recipient

Bartlett Library's Youth & Teen & Adult Services Librarian Abby Weaver is a winner of the 2018 Summer Teen Intern Grant. An American Library Association (ALA) division, Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), chose Weaver and 19 librarians from other libraries to receive the $1,000 grant, made possible by The Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

"I'm really excited to offer the next level of teen volunteering for our Library community," Weaver said. "Our teens here are so motivated that it's nice to offer them a chance to gain real world work experience through the teen internship."

The interns will help with summer programming, mainly interacting and working with children for the craft, S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and other various programs.

At the end of the internship, the teen interns will receive a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card for their work, and a pizza party to celebrate.

There are nine spots available, and the applications for the Summer Internship will be available starting April 2. Applications must be submitted by April 30. For a form, you can find it online or visit the Youth & Teen Services Desk or the Adult Services Desk to receive one.

The Summer Volunteering program will go on as normal for those who are not in the internship. Application details are the same as the internship; they will be available starting April 2 and must be submitted by April 30. Visit the Library for the form or find it on the Library's website.
