The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines recently completed their annual Shoes for Kids event. Kiwanis members met 161 children at the local Kmart store to shop for new boots or shoes for the winter. Club members and families explored the shelves to find just the right pair for each child. Funds for the annual service project were raised through generous community support.

The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines began serving the community in 1941. The club is part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis family includes the Key Club at Maine West High School.

New members are always welcome. Lunch meetings are held on Tuesdays at 12:15 pm at the Elks Club, 495 Lee St. For more information, to donate, or to volunteer to help, visit dpkiwanis.org.
