McFun For Holmes Middle School at McTeacher's Night

Holmes Middle School in Wheeling held their first annual McTeacher's Night at the Wheeling McDonald's on Dundee Road on Wednesday, November 29. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Holmes Middle School PTO. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty-five teachers and staff members worked from the middle school including Principal Martin Hopkins and Assistant Principal Liz Richards. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Holmes Middle School staff members Darcy Tegtmeier, Joanne Hummel, Gisele Raube and Julie Massarsky all had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

One highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar Holmes Middle School staff member Sharon Bermudez encouraged all the staff members to sing the McDonald's jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!

A special thank you goes to Katie Sedin who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Holmes Middle School teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The Holmes Middle School PTO plans to use the money raised for the 8th Grade Graduation dance, enrichment materials, and technology.

Holmes Middle School raised over $680.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
