Sugar Grove library to host 'Halloween Spookapalooza,' pancake breakfast Oct. 28

The Friends of the Sugar Grove Public Library will host a pancake breakfast and "Halloween Spookapalooza" on Saturday, Oct. 28.

They will be serving pancakes, sausage and juice from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds will be used to purchase materials and resources for a new Local Focus section in the Reading Room including materials needed to begin a local Illinois author and history section. Works from local authors and materials about Illinois, Kane County and Sugar Grove will be featured. It also will feature artwork from local farm artist Joshua Schultz bringing this area to life. Two photographs will be purchased and framed to highlight the "local" flavor of the Reading Room. Proceeds also will go toward shelving for the hold shelf that will better serve patrons with mobility difficulties. The current shelves require patrons to get down on the floor which is difficult for many people. The new Local Focus section will continue to grow throughout the years at the Sugar Grove Library.

The library's "Spookapalooza" will begin at 10 a.m. There will be a Spooky Storytime at 10:30 a.m., followed by drop-in craft tables at 11 a.m. Trick-or-treating will begin at 11 a.m. in the library. At 11:15 a.m., the Slithery Sliding Animals will be presented from Cosley Zoo. Bring your littles ones in costume for a breakfast for a great cause and enjoy the events.

Modern Woodman, a fraternal financial organization with representatives in Sugar Grove, will provide matching donations to funds raised for this event. For every dollar the library raises, they will match up to $1,000.

Thank you to the Friends of the Library for their dedication and service.

Volunteers are needed for this event from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Needed are servers, cleanup after people have finished a table, coffee server, taking care of condiments, raffle tickets, book sale cashier, cashier for breakfast, number pass out, cleanup after breakfast, and more.
