Music highlights Elmhurst Block to Block Party

The Broken Halos and singer/songwriter Brent Brown will perform Wednesday, June 28, as part of Elmhurst City Centre's Block to Block Party in the city's downtown.

The free concerts will be presented from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with Broken Halos playing at the City Centre Plaza and Brown performing at Elmhurst 255 N Plaza at 255 N. York Road.

The Broken Halos are no strangers to the Elmhurst community, as the band headlined Art in the Park in mid-May. The 12-member band includes a five-piece horn section.

"We're passionate about music and we love playing together, and I think that comes out in our shows," vocalist David Hendricks said. "We want the Broken Halos experience to be all about joy and to create that dynamic … we play music that drives us emotionally and we do our best to draw the audience in to that emotional experience."

Local businesses have noticed increased foot traffic and crowds drawn by the Block to Block Party concert series this summer.

"It has a big impact on your business," said Tonja Davie, general manager of Meatheads in the City Centre Plaza. "We count on it every week."

Elmhurst City Centre's mission is to make the downtown a destination for consumers through concerted efforts in marketing and special events, physical appearance standards and improvements, and business retention and recruitment.
