Aptakisic/Tripp School District #102 held its second annual McTeacher's Night at the Wheeling McDonald's

Aptakisic/Tripp School District #102 held their second annual McTeacher's Night at the Wheeling McDonald's on Lake Cook Road on Wednesday, April 19. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Wednesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Aptakisic/Tripp District 102. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principals behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Fifty-one teachers and staff members worked from the schools, including Principals Mr. Michels, Dr. Moreland, Mrs. Bhardwaj and Superintendent Dr. Wilcox. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Teachers Ms. Wischmeyer, Ms. Mazzone and Ms. Callahan had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

Ronald McDonald stopped by to enjoy the festivities and meet the students and staff members from Aptakisic/Tripp District 102. The students enjoyed getting their picture taken and giving Ronald McDonald high fives!

A special thank you goes to District 102 PTO member Jill Axelord who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. District 102 teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. Aptakisic/Tripp District 102 PTO plan to use the money raised for cultural arts assemblies.

Aptakisic/Tripp District 102 PTO raised $1,076.00 at the event. The apple pies were a favorite for teachers, staff, and students!
