Bobby Jenks named manager of the Windy City Thunderbolts

Bobby Jenks, who helped the White Sox win the World Series 18 years ago, is coming back to Chicago.

On Thursday, the Windy City ThunderBolts announced Jenks as their new manager.

"Putting aside his popularity on the South Side of Chicago, in three short years coaching, Bobby has shown to be a great mentor both on and off the field," ThunderBolts general manager Mike VerSchave said. "His experience pitching at the highest level, in the highest pressure situations, will be invaluable in molding our pitching staff. His title run in the Pioneer League shows his ability to put together a competitive team as well as run a fantastic clubhouse that will serve him well in our league."

The 42-year-old Jenks was named Pioneer League manager of the year in 2022 after guiding the Grand Junction Rockies to a 62-33 record.

He spent the 2023 season as pitching coach for the Princeton WhistlePigs in the Appalachian League.

Jenks pitched for the White Sox from 2005-2010 and was 14-18 with a 3.40 ERA, 173 saves and 334 strikeouts in 341⅔ innings.
