Bulls' LaVine recalls being coached by Thibodeau
The best team Zach LaVine has played for during his seven years in the NBA was the 2016-17 Minnesota Timberwolves, which went 31-51 under coach Tom Thibodeau.
LaVine played in only 47 games that season because of a torn ACL and on draft night 2017, he was sent to the Bulls in the Jimmy Butler trade.
Thibodeau didn't have the same success in Minnesota he had with the Bulls, but he's back on an NBA bench and back at the United Center with the New York Knicks. LaVine talked about his experience with Thibodeau.
"It was good, I said 'What's up' to him and talked to him a little bit during (Monday's) game," LaVine said. "Me and Thibs had a pretty good relationship. For me personally, I feel like I'm an extremely hard worker and I feel like I can respect somebody that works extremely hard.
"With Thibs, he's engulfed with basketball. It's night, morning, midday. I'll come back to the gym at nighttime and I'll hear him, 'What are you doing down there dribbling the ball?' Like bro, why are you still here? He's a basketball lifer. He's engulfed in it and you can respect somebody like that."
