Bulls' Donovan explains why Dotson is headed to G-League bubble

Why is Bulls two-way player Devon Dotson headed to the G-League bubble in Orlando, affectionately known as the "Gubble?"

The Bulls chose not to send the Windy City Bulls to the bubble, and their other two-way player, Adam Mokoka, is staying with the NBA squad for now. Dotson is being assigned to the Canton Charge, affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"I think with the way our team is, having three point guards, there probably wasn't a pathway for (Dotson) to receive consistent minutes," Bulls coach Billy Donovan said. "Guys need to play. I feel like it's probably in the best position for him to play. I think with Sato (Tomas Satoransky) back, Arch (Ryan Arcidiacono) back and now Coby (White), there's three guys there.

"It's really hard to get a fourth guy out there at the point guard spot. So it's just a matter of how do we help him in his development, how do we put him in some situations where he can grow?"

Mokoka has played in six games this season and may be called upon again if the Bulls need a wing defender. Dotson has played only in the blowout loss to Milwaukee on Jan. 1.

When he gets to the Canton Charge, one of Dotson's teammates will be former Bulls guard Antonio Blakeney, who won G-League rookie of the year while playing for the Windy City Bulls in 2017-18. The shortened G-League tournament will start in about two weeks.
