Clubhouse Chatter: What siblings combos are the best in sports history?

What the sports staff has to say now that the games have resumed.

They weren't the best brother duo in sports history, but I enjoyed Rick and Paul Reuschel. Hardly a chiseled athlete, Rick nevertheless carved out a 214-win, 2,000-strikeout career. Paul had more modest success with a 16-16 career record, still pretty good considering he looked like a science teacher.

Right now, the Ortiz brothers, Irad and Jose, are outstanding young jockeys on the New York thoroughbred circuit. Irad had a big day at the Arlington Million in 2019. The Perry brothers, Gaylord and Jim, were always a favorite on the pitcher's mound back in the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Peyton and Eli Manning, although I'll give out shout-outs to Bobby and Dennis Hull and Phil and Tony Esposito. Cooper's younger brothers threw for 91,014 yards and 647 TDs, went to 15 Pro Bowls and won 3 Super Bowls. But Peyton's kickoff-coverage teammates in Super Bowl XLI couldn't stop Devin Hester. So there, Peyton.

The Bryan twins, Bob and Mike, truly have been the best combination in the most literal sense. They are the winningest doubles team in tennis history.

What about sisters? I'm going with Venus and Serena Williams. For brothers I'll go with Hank and Tommie Aaron ... 768 combined home runs, although Hank might have had a few more than Tommie.

- Kevin Schmit

The best two brother combinations in sports history are both from hockey, the Sutters and the fictional Hansons.

- Dave Oberhelman

I'm going with a brother-sister combo - Reggie and Cheryl Miller. Reggie was one of the best NBA players of his time and Cheryl was one of the best female basketball players ever. They're both Hall-of-Famers, so they get my nod over Eli and Peyton Manning.
