Chicago Fire signs third homegrown player from Addison

The Chicago Fire on Tuesday added a third homegrown teenager from Addison to its roster.

Javier Casas, a 16-year-old central midfielder, signed with the Fire first team from the club's academy. He joins brothers Gabriel, 15, and Nicholas Slonina, 18, on the first team.

Casas is the 17th homegrown player the Fire has signed and is the eighth homegrown player on the current roster. He is signed through the 2023 season with a club option for 2024.

The Fire on Monday signed homegrown midfielder Brian Gutierrez of Southwest suburban Burbank.

"Javier has shown tremendous upside as he has been training within the first-team throughout the 2020 season," Fire coach Raphael Wicky said. "His soccer IQ is beyond his years and our staff is looking forward to working with him to continue his development in a professional setting."
