Cole scores 13 and Round Lake wins again

Sophomore Amari Cole scored 13 points, and Round Lake's girls basketball team defeated host Lake Forest Academy 51-19 in a nonconference game on Thursday night.

Freshman Lilli Burton and junior Karla Marin added 9 and 8 points, respectively, for the Panthers (5-17), who won for the second night in a row.

Round Lake also welcomed back sophomore guard Taylor Major, who had been out all season while recovering from ACL surgery. Major, who missed the Panthers' 21 first games, hit a 3-pointer.

Round Lake 49, Antioch 44: On Wednesday night, Lilli Burton tallied 16 points and 6 steals, Jessica Leitl added 15 points, and the host Panthers won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Ariea Williams added 11 points and 7 steals for Round Lake, which improved to 2-6 in the NLCC and snapped a five-game losing streak.

Antioch (8-13, 3-5) received 14 points from Avery Larson and 11 from Hailey Webb.

Lakes 44, North Chicago 27: On Wednesday night, Rosie Tekampe and Kailey Gara each scored 13 points for the host Eagles in the Northern Lake County Conference game.

It was the second win in three games for Lakes (4-15, 3-5), which led 9-7 after one quarter, 26-13 at halftime and 31-21 after three.

"We had a good conference, home win," Eagles coach Brian Phelan said. "We played well on both ends of the court. We handled their second-half trapping defense well. We moved the ball well on offense and made shots."
