Boys soccer: St. Charles East edges Wheaton North; St. Edward rolls

Jack Settle went the distance in goal for St. Charles East (14-1-2) with 7 saves Tuesday, and the Saints held off Wheaton North for a 3-2 win.

Renato Avenando scored two for St. Charles East, including what would be the winning goal in the second half.


St. Edward 6, Ridgewood 1: Four early goals paced the Wave (10-5, 3-2) in this MSC Blue division matchup in Elgin. Up 4-0 at half, the Wave tallied two more in the first 15 minutes of the second half to put this one well out of reach. Josh Johansen and Chase Brieger each scored two, leading St. Edward.

Genoa-Kingston 4, Westminster Christian 2: The Warriors (3-9) went into halftime tied 2-2, but Genoa-Kingston dominated the second half. Cal Hoon scored a goal and assisted the other goal to lead Westminster Christian.

Crystal Lake South 3, Crystal Lake Central 1: Alex Canfield scored twice for the Gators (11-3-4, 5-0-1) to earn the cross-town Fox Valley Conference win. Carson Hill tended goal for CL South and tallied 5 saves.
