Pitching matchups: The Cubs' Cole Hamels (6-2) vs. Sonny Gray (3-5) at 6:10 p.m. Friday; Jose Quintana (4-7) vs. Luis Castillo (7-2) at 3:10 p.m. Saturday; Jon Lester (7-5) vs. Anthony DeSclafani (4-4) at 12:10 p.m. Sunday

At a glance: The Reds (36-42) enter the weekend on a four-game losing streak. They have taken two of three from the Cubs at each ballpark this season. Pitching remains a strength of the Reds. Their team ERA of 3.65 was second in the National League entering Thursday. The Cubs were third at 3.88. After a slow start, Reds first baseman Joey Votto is starting to hit.
