Baseball: Lakes' Mueller strikes out 14

Logan Mueller struck out 14 batters in 6 innings, and Lakes' baseball team shut out Grayslake North 4-0 in the teams' Northern Lake County Conference finale Friday.

Mueller allowed only 2 hits and 1 walk. Ethan Clark pitched the seventh for the Eagles (11-18, 8-10). Chase Andell and Joe Glassey both doubled, Julian Carrillo was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Carson Cobb had a single and 2 RBI.

Wauconda 5, Antioch 1: Jacob Jensen fired a complete-game 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks, as the Bulldogs won the Northern Lake County Conference finale.

Riley Kirk was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles for Wauconda (13-14, 9-9), and Josh Kehl went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Vince Roszkowiak had a single and an RBI for Antioch.

Grant 6, Grayslake Central 2: The Bulldogs completed a 17-1 season in the Northern Lake County Conference, as Cord Babcock allowed 2 runs over 4 innings for the win.

Grant Bulldogs (24-5) was led offensively by Mikal Ashley (2-for-3, double), Nathan Gladfelter (1-for-2, RBI), Jesse James (sacrifice fly) and Ben Truss (1-for-2).

Lake Zurich 5, Fremd 0: James Piggottt (2 innings), Noah DeLuga (4 innings) and Jake Green (1 inning) combined on a 3-hit shutout for the Bears in their nonconference win.

DeLuga also had a single and 2 RBI, and Michael Chialdikas was 2-for-3.

Libertyville 6, Highland Park 3: Andrew Kim was 2-for-3 with a triple for the Wildcats in their nonconference win.

Dylan Drumke (2-for-3), Tanner Kelly and Sam Paden all doubled for Libertyville (21-12).
