Softball: Jacobs, Garden shut out DeKalb
Jacobs 10, DeKalb 0: The Golden Eagles (16-12) saw the ball extremely well on Thursday, tallying 18 hits, including 3 a piece from Katie Armstrong and Abbey Nesnidal. Delaney Garden earned the win for Jacobs, surrendering no runs on 4 hits over 3 innings, striking out two and walking one.
Sycamore 6, Dundee-Crown 1: The Chargers (8-20) had a 1-0 lead heading into the fifth inning, and then the Sycamore bats exploded. Alissa Robertson took the loss for Dundee-Crown. Grace Dierwechter went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dundee-Crown in hits, including a second inning home run which would be the only score of the game for the Chargers.
Geneva 13, Wheaton North 2: Alyssa Kramer was an RBI machine, driving in 6 runs on 3 hits to lead Geneva (11-8) past Wheaton North on Thursday. Kramer drove in runs on a triple in the first, a home run in the second, and a single in the fourth. Shelly Deisz was credited with the victory for the Vikings, throwing 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs while striking out three and walking one.
Hampshire 13, Crystal Lake Central 8: Alyssa Cork had a busy day at the plate, smacking 4 hits in the Whip-Purs' victory over Crystal Lake Central. Cork singled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and doubled in the seventh. Shai-Ann Currie pitched 3⅓ innings for Hampshire (14-17), striking out five and walking none. Katie Del Re threw 3⅓ innings in relief out of the bullpen.
