Baseball: Coe's 4 hits, 6 RBI lead Wauconda

Drew Coe went 4-for-4 with a double and 6 RBI, and Wauconda beat visiting Antioch 13-7 in Northern Lake County Conference baseball action Wednesday.

Anthony Bonk was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI for the Bulldogs (12-14, 8-9), who visit Antioch Thursday in the teams' NLCC finale. Marcus Keller went 2-for-4 and got the win on the mound, striking out six. Luke Dubach earned the save.

Antioch got 2 hits apiece from Eric Hart and Tyler Skutnik. Sean Weiser and Jack Gillespie doubled for the Sequoits.

Vernon Hills 14, Deerfield 4: The Warriors jumped ahead 4-0 in their first two at-bats, but Cougars starter Danny Wizceb settled down and didn't allow another run for the remainder of the Central Suburban League North Division game.

Vernon Hills (17-11, 9-7) had 15 hits, including three apiece from Ethan Bowers, Derek Jarrell and Caleb Thomson. Brendan Holloway drove in 4 runs.

Stevenson 5, Carmel 4: The Patriots pounded out 15 hits in the nonconference game.

Jake Freed earned the win and Jacob Rosenkranz notched the save. Jake Surane's 4-for-4 led the way offensively for Stevenson (22-9). The Patriots' other contributors included Benji Ries (1-for-3, 2 RBI), Ryan McElhinny (2-for-3, RBI, 2 stolen bases), Isaiah Hart (2-for-4), Justin Tumpowsky (2-for-4, RBI) and Ryan Miller (3-for-4).

Carmel (14-7-1) got doubles from Lukas Galdoni (3-for-4) and Sean Lynch.

Lake Zurich 11, St. Viator 8: Tyler Snep was 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBI, and the Bears scored 6 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the nonconference game for their 20th win.

Lake Zurich (20-9) received 2 hits apiece from Anthony Mangano (double, 3 RBI), Sam Holtz (RBI), winning pitcher James Piggott (solo homer, double) and Michael Gallus (RBI, 2 runs).
