Baseball: Kenney's homer lifts Warren in NSC finale

Thomas Kenney hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Warren's baseball team completed North Suburban Conference play with a 4-3 win over visiting Mundelein on Tuesday.

Nate Rentas also homered and drove in 2 runs for Warren (28-3, 13-1), and Bradley Vondruska had a double. Vondruska also earned the win, pitching 3 innings in relief, allowing 4 hits and 1 run, while striking out six.

Mason Schultz and TJ Yakimisky each had 2 hits for Mundelein (12-13, 7-7). The Mustangs got doubles from Austin Greco, Jared Dorfman and Christian Diaz.

Wauconda 5, Antioch 3: Clark Morgan pitched a complete game, as the visiting Bulldogs won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Anthony Bonk singled and drove in 2 runs for Wauconda (11-14, 7-9), and Joshua Kehl had a double.

Kylar Arias hit a solo home run for Antioch and also singled. Sean Weiser had 2 hits as well for the Sequoits, and Austin Andrews tripled.

Lake Zurich 10, Waukegan 0: Tyler Snep went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for the host Bears in the North Suburban Conference game.

Michael Gallus was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Grayslake North 8, Lakes 6: Jimmy Straten had the game-winning RBI single in the top of the seventh, as the Knights won the Northern Lake County Conference game.

Straten finished with 3 RBI, while Grayslake North (10-15, 7-10) got 2 hits apiece from Nick Lovitsch (double), Jeremy Rowder (2 RBI) and Grant Garrett (RBI). Luis Fernandez pitched 2 no-hit innings, and Noah Gordon threw 3 scoreless frames in relief.

Lakes got 2-for-3 efforts from Jason Volpe, Ethan Mackey and Carson Cobb (2 RBI).

Stevenson 2, Lake Forest 1: Frank Carris allowed 2 hits over 6 innings to improve to 8-0, as the Patriots won the North Suburban Conference finale.

Jacob Rosenkranz struck out two in a scoreless seventh to earn the save. Benji Ries was 2-for-3 for Stevenson (21-9, 10-4), and Ryan Miller had a double.
