Baseball: Prospect's Jensen shuts out Barrington

Prospect's Brent Jensen fired a 3-hitter with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk Friday as the Knights' baseball team upended Mid-Suburban League West leader Barrington 3-0 in an MSL crossover game.

Dan Morgan had 2 hits for Prospect (8-7 MSL), while Jacob Kiel had a double and Matt McAleer drove in a run.

Ricky Kanak took the loss for Barrington, which fell to 13-3 in the MSL.

Wheeling 8, Fremd 6: Andy Shover (2 hits, RBI), Cade Zalewski (2B, RBI), Michael Best (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Joe Jordan (2B, 2 RBI), Eric Konrath (2 RBI) and winning pitcher Matthew Patterson (2 hits, 2B) led the Wheeling (7-8 MSL) offense in its crossover win. Brent Swenson had 3 hits with a home run and a double for Fremd (11-4) while Connor Giusti (2 hits, RBI), Will Josten (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Matt Wingen (2B, RBI) also contributed. Will Cai took the loss for the Vikings.

Hersey 5, Schaumburg 3: A.J. Ceffalio had 2 hits and James Denten a double and an RBI for Hersey (8-7 MSL). Joe Unger led Schaumburg (4-11) with 2 hits including a double. Hunter Luke was the winning pitcher and Jake Golliher took the loss.

Buffalo Grove 8, Hoffman 2: Matt Brunelli (2B, RBI) and Riley Rundquist (2 RBI) led the offense for BG (9-5 MSL). Carter Gledhill added 2 RBI and Nick Openbrier had a double for the Bison. Nate Rogers picked up the win, going five innings and allowing 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and a walk. Jim Kliver had 2 hits while Matt Grossi and Nathan Meister added doubles for Hoffman Estates (2-13).

Conant 11, Meadows 1: Teague Conrad and Daniel LaRosa teamed up on a 1-hitter for Conant (5-10 MSL). Kevin Polaski had 3 hits and 2 RBI for the Cougars and Keegan Brandt added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI. Sean Nolan had the only hit for Rolling Meadows (2-13).

Elk Grove 4, Palatine 1: Ryne Singsank had 3 hits with an RBI and pitched 6⅔ innings, allowing 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk to lead Elk Grove (10-3 MSL). Josh Periaswamy (2B, 2 RBI) and Zach Schwartz (3B, RBI) also contributed to the offense for the Grens. Eric Pecson had 2 hits and losing pitcher Josh Stitt added a double for Palatine (10-5).
