Baseball: Warren wins first conference title in program history

Nate Rentas hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the 10th inning, and Warren beat host Stevenson 5-4 Tuesday to capture its first outright conference baseball championship in school history.

The Blue Devils improved to 24-2 and 11-0 in the North Suburban Conference with their 21st win in a row.

Rentas finished 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Mikey Kocen was 2-for-5, and Brian Rapanan had a double. Bradley Vondruska allowed 1 run in 7 innings of relief to earn the win.

For Stevenson (17-8, 8-4), Zach Taylor was 2-for-5, Chris Farina and Isaiah Hart each had 2 RBI, and Brandon Ward doubled and walked three times.

Libertyville 1, Lake Forest 0: Ryan Klainos fired a no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking three, as the Wildcats won the North Suburban Conference game.

Derek Calamari was 2-for-3 with a double for Libertyville (15-12, 6-6).

Lake Zurich 6, Mundelein 5: Tyler Snep's walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh gave the Bears the North Suburban Conference win.

The solo blast was Snep's third in the two-game series against the Mustangs.

James Piggott was 1-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI for Lake Zurich (15-8, 7-4), Jake Green pitched 3-hit ball over 5 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Mundelein got 2-for-4 efforts from Andrew Schroeder and Tyler Green (double, 2 RBI). Sam Eddy had a double for the Mustangs.

Grayslake Central 10, Antioch 0: Coby Moe pitched a 6-inning no-hitter, striking out nine and walking two, as the Rams won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Grayslake Central (20-4, 11-2) received 2 hits apiece from Nic Presutti (3 runs), Marcus Maristela (double, RBI), Eric Sturm (RBI) and Nate Twardock (2 RBI).

Carmel 2, Notre Dame 1: Dylan Paquette went the distance on the mound for the Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.

Paquette allowed just 3 hits and no earned runs with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. Lukas Galdoni was 2-for-3 for Carmel, which got doubles from Sean Lynch and Drew Wiegman.

Grant 5, Lakes 2: Carlos Martinez pitched a complete game, allowing 1 earned run and 4 hits, while striking out four and walking two in the Northern Lake County Conference game.

Martinez also doubled, and Val Cerna was 2-for-3 for Grant (18-4, 11-0).

Chance Andell was 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored for Lakes (8-14, 5-6).

Round Lake 8, Wauconda 3: Wyatt Hill allowed 2 runs in 6 innings for the Panthers in the Northern Lake County Conference game.

Charlie Burton was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Round Lake.

Wauconda (8-12, 4-7) was led offensively by Marcus Keller (2-for-3, double) and Camden Janik (2-for-2, 2 doubles, 2 RBI).
