Softball: Geneva, St. Charles East pick up DuKane victories

Sam Keller, Sydney Erdmann and Emily Viebrock each had 2 hits in Geneva's 4-0 DuKane Conference victory over Wheaton Warrenville South on Saturday.

Viebrock also had 2 RBI. Shelly Deisz earned the win for the Vikings (6-8, 4-2).

St. Charles East 18, Glenbard North 2: The Saints (15-7, 6-2) rolled to a DuKane Conference win behind Lauren Luna's 3 hits, 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Paige Ligocki and Kristina Singleton also hit home runs. Maddy Stout went 3-for-3 and Ligocki had 5 RBI. Izzy Howe pitched the first 3 innings allowing 2 runs with 3 strikeouts before Madelyn Rouse tossed the final 2 innings scoreless with 3 strikeouts.

Kaneland at Marengo: The Knights (20-6) capped their day at the Marengo tournament with an 18-5 win over Conant. Earlier in the tourney the Knights beat Montini 8-2 in a rematch of last year's Class 3A state championship game and lost to Marengo, 9-4.

Rose Roach led the way against Conant smashing 2 home runs and driving in 5 runs while going 4-for-4. Hailey Roach also went 4-for-4. Donatela Sommesi homered and drove in a pair of runs, Lauren Callahan was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and Danyelle Borysiewicz had 2 hits and 2 runs.

Burlington Central splits: The Rockets (14-6) lost 5-2 to Belvidere North before rallying for a 9-8 win in the nightcap with 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh capped by a sacrifice fly by Rylie Duval to score Peyton Curtis.

Alisyn Catenacci pitched the final 5 innings for the win, striking out four, Duval was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, Katie Snow had 2 hits, Catenacci went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, and Lindsay Jamrozek and Abigail Sanders both added 2 hits.

Aurora Central Catholic 10, Sycamore 8: The Chargers (21-2) bounced back from a 10-1 loss in the opener behind Alheli Velazquez (2-for-5), Ava Wilkins (2 RBI), Isabel Gonzalez (2-4, 2 RBI), Olivia Hernandez (2-4, 2 RBI), Gracie Hare (2-4), Brooke Berens (1-1, 3 walks, 2 runs) and Sammy Martinez (1-3, 2 RBI). Olivia Hernandez sealed the win with a 2-run walk off home run in the eighth inning.
