Softball: Stout homers twice for St. Charles East

St. Charles East 8, Glenbard North 0: Katie Arrambide got the win for St. Charles East (10-5) going six innings, allowing a single hit and striking out 10. Maddy Stout led the Saints at the plate, driving in 4 runs. Stout went 2-for-4, driving in runs on a home run in the first and a home run in the fifth.

Wheaton Warrenville South 7, Geneva 5: The Vikings (1-4) outhit Wheaton Warrenville South 11-10. Shelly Deisz suffered the loss Geneva, throwing 6 innings. Sam Keller and Emily Viebrock each had 3 hits for the Vikings.

Lake Park 9, Batavia 1: The Bulldogs (6-8) were only able to put 2 hits out on the field, as Lake Park had hot bats through much of the game. Noelle Chaney took the loss for Batavia, allowing 5 hits and 9 runs while striking out four in a complete game effort.

St. Charles North 5, Wheaton North 4: A sixth inning score was exactly what the North Stars needed to hang on to a hard fought win. Anastasia Pappas was credited with the victory. She went 6 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out four and walking one. Gracee Ellis threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, recording the last 3 outs to earn the save. Ashlee Chantos went 3-for-4.

Bartlett 5, Larkin 4: The Royals (3-5, 2-2) may have succumbed, but it was not without a fight. It took Bartlett 8 innings to finish the job in Upstate Eight action Tuesday night. Brynne Farnsworth suffered the loss, allowing 5 runs on 13 hits, striking out seven and walking two in 8 innings of work. Farnsworth also had an RBI double, while Kiara Villa had 2 hits, a run scored and an RBI,

Streamwood 11, Elgin 0: The Sabres (5-3) rode a 1-0 lead through most of the game until breaking away for good with a 10-run sixth inning. Taylyr Crocilla threw a shutout and also led the Streamwood offense with 3 hits.

South Elgin 7, Glenbard East 1: The Storm (10-5) had a 6-run first inning to propel them to victory, led by McKenna Eichholz, Sami Koss, Cara Cruthers and Sidney Strama who each had RBI. Strama was the winning pitcher for South Elgin, allowing three hits and a run while striking out eight and walking one in a complete game effort.

Cary-Grove 5, Dundee-Crown 1: Alina Krembuszwski, Frankie Cruz and Katy Wierczorek all had multiple hits for the Trojans (5-4) in a well-balanced offensive attack. Emma Hill earned the win, surrendering a run on 6 hits over 7 innings, striking out four. Caleigh Gertz took the loss for Dundee-Crown (3-7) allowing 5 runs on 9 hits over 7 innings, striking out three.

Harlem 8, Hampshire 7: The Whip-Purs (6-7) were on the wrong end of the final play, as Harlem got a run across in the bottom of the eighth. Morgan Haefling had 3 hits and 2 stolen bases to lead the Hampshire offense. Katie Del Re suffered the loss, going 7⅔ innings, allowing 8 runs on 11 hits and striking out four.

Aurora Central Catholic 17, Elmwood Park 3: Lizzie Albert was clutch with runners on base on, driving in four on 3 hits to lead ACC (17-2) to a 5-inning victory. Amanda Lohrey earned the win for the Chargers, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs over 5 innings, striking out four.

Rosary 6. St. Edward 3: A lead change late in the game went in favor of Rosary (3-7) who went on to win behind 3 hits from Brooke Capparelli. Earning the win for the Royals was Capparelli, who went the distance and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, striking out nine. One the rubber for St. Edward was Hannah Dorley, allowing 6 runs on 8 hits and striking out nine over 6 innings.

LaSalle Peru 2, Kaneland 1: It was a tough loss for the Knights (11-3) who scored first, but gave up 2 runs in the second inning and never answered back. The lone run for Kaneland came in the first inning when Hailey Roach hit into a fielder's choice that scored a run. McKenna Ryan suffered the loss going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out four and walking one.
