Softball: Hot-hitting Bradley rallies Grayslake Central

Grace Bradley continues to slug the softball for Grayslake Central.

The senior hit a 2-run double with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday to give the Rams a 3-2, walk-off win over Mundelein in nonconference action.

Bradley was coming off a 2-homer, 6-RBI performance against Dundee-Crown on Friday and hit a grand slam against Grayslake North earlier in the week. She went the distance in the circle against Mundelein. Rachel Smigielski was 2-for-3 for Grayslake Central (8-2), and Elisa Koshy went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Mundelein's Kendall Klatt was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, double and 2 RBI. Kira Buckner pitched a complete game for the Mustangs, striking out nine.

Antioch 14, Auburn 0: At Rockford, the Sequoits capped off the day with their fourth win in as many games to capture the tournament championship.

Jeri Bonagudi pitched all 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and no walks, while striking out four. Rilee Schreiner homered for Antioch (7-0-1), Megan Lawrence was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, and Piper Foote finished 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. The Sequoits' other contributors included Ashlyn Sundell (2-for-4, 3 runs, double, 3 RBI), Gabby Debevec (double) and Hailey Webb (double).

Antioch outscored its four opponents 46-4.

Antioch 9, Rockford East 0: At Rockford, in their third game of the day, the Sequoits got a six-inning complete game from Rilee Schreiner, who struck out 10 and allowed only 1 hit.

Schreiner also went 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI. Megan Lawrence finished 3-for-3 with a homer, Ashlyn Sundell was 3-for-4, Gabby Debevec went 2-for-4 with 2 triples and 2 RBI, and Piper Foote homered and knocked in 3 runs.

Antioch 9, Rockford Boylan 4: At Rockford, in their second game of the day, the Sequoits got 2 hits apiece from Abby Pyburn, Ashlyn Sundell and Rilee Schreiner. Pyburn homered, Piper Foote had a single and 3 RBI, Megan Lawrence doubled, and Gabby Debevec tripled.

Antioch 14, Jefferson 0: At Rockford, in their first game of the day, the Sequoits got homers Gabby Debevec, Megan Lawrence, Faith Miller, Abby Pyburn, Rilee Schreiner and Hailey Webb.

Schreiner and Webb both went 3-for-3. Ashlyn Sundell (double), Debevec and Pyburn each had a pair of hits. Schreiner pitched 3 innings for the win, allowing 1 hit and striking out four.

Vernon Hills 12, Wauconda 5: The host Cougars captured the nonconference game, receiving 3-for-5 performances from Mackenzie Mahler (double, stolen base), Delaney Bowen (homer, double, 2 stolen bases) and Quin Yuter (double, stolen base).

Vernon Hills improved to 3-5.

Richmond-Burton 10, Grayslake North 5: Freshman Nicole Hughes led the way for the host Knights in their nonconference loss, going 3-for-4 and nearly hitting a grand slam. She settled for a base-clearing double, as the ball hit off the fence capping and bounced back into play.

Alyssa Carr (2-for-4), Faith Standerski (2-for-3, walk), Grace Brown (1-for-4, RBI) and Meghan Delahunty (1-for-3, walk) all had hits for the Knights (6-6).

Winning pitcher Jesse Klicker homered twice for the Rockets, finishing 3-for-4 with 4 RBI. Peyton Bannon (3-for-4) also homered, doubled twice and finished with 4 RBI.

Schaumburg 8, Stevenson 1: Maggie O'Brien was 1-for-2 with a walk for the Patriots in their nonconference loss.
