Softball: Rosary wins 1st game on Cappararelli's walk-off hit

Brooke Cappararelli delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh Monday, giving Rosary a 5-4 win over IC Catholic Prep.

Emily Hurst doubled leading off the seventh and scored on Cappararelli's single to right. IC Catholic Prep had rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game.

Cappararelli (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Hurst (3-for-3, 2 runs), Peyton Dillon (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Chloe Saltijeral (2-for-3) all had multiple hits for Rosary (1-4).

Brooke Cappararelli pitched a complete game, allowing just 1 earned run while striking out four.

Crystal Lake South 17, Marian Central Catholic 1: Crystal Lake South scored seven times in the first inning and six more in the second on the way to an easy win.

Leadoff hitter Brooke Kuffel went 2-for-4 with a homer and 6 RBI. Alexis Pupillo (3-for-5, 2 RBI), Emily Sulikowski (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Christina Toniolo (home run, 2 RBI), Baylee Kassel (2-for-3), Maddie Bush (4-for-4), Evelyn Smith (3-for-3, 3 runs) and Kyra Swartz (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 3 runs) all had big days at the plate.

St. Francis 6, Aurora Central Catholic 3: The Chargers (10-1) suffered their first loss despite a pair of hits from Isabel Gonzalez and Dani Brown. Olivia Hernandez had 2 RBI. Brown took the loss, striking out 11 while allowing 8 hits and 4 walks.

West Aurora 8, Geneva 5: The Blackhawks (3-3) improved to .500 behind a 4-for-4 day with 3 runs by Gabi Nilles. Kennedy Zies added 2 hits while Gab Drager and Payton Lundberg had 2 RBI. Lundberg pitched the first 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs, striking out three and walking two. Sam Keller scored 3 runs for Geneva.
