Dugalic hits 1,000 in Maine West's regional title
Maine West junior forward Angela Dugalic took part in her third straight girls basketball regional championship on Friday night.
She also took a place in the Warriors' exclusive 1,000-point club.
The 6-foot-4 three-year starter reached the lofty point total by scoring 14 points in Maine West's 87-32 triumph over No. 9 Oak Park-River Forest in the championship game of the Class 4A Lane Tech regional final.
It was the third consecutive regional crown for West and 27th in program history.
The top-seeded Warriors (30-0) advance to the Evanston sectional semifinal on Monday night where they will face No. 5 Glenbrook South (22-7) at 6 p.m.
The second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. matches No. 2 Loyola (22-7) against No. 3 Evanston (23-7).
Dugalic also pulled down 10 rebounds and had 5 steals in the Warriors' 74th win in 77 games.
Other top contributors for West were senior Rachel Kent (19 points, 3 steals, 2 assists), senior Vanessa Reyes (12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) and junior Dylan Van Fleet (13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals).
