Warren wins Lake County meet

Wrestlers had to wait a couple of days to compete in the Lake County meet after the weekend snowstorm postponed the competition that was originally scheduled for two days.

It proved to be worth the wait for Warren.

The Blue Devils boasted six champions en route to a winning 224 points at Libertyville on Monday. Libertyville was second with 215.5 points, while Stevenson (190), Grayslake Central (160) and Zion-Benton (149) rounded out the top five.

Warren received championship efforts from Sawyer Nash (106 pounds), Austin Nash (113), Cam Domke (120), Joel Vandervere (126), Isaiah Parker (152) and Christian Goeden (220).

Libertyville got first-place performances from Danny Pucino (132) and Michael Gunther (138).

Grayslake Central had four champions: Joey Murphy (145), Joey Jens (160), defending Class 2A state champ Alex Cramer (170) and Adrien Cramer (182).

Stevenson's Max Gomez (195) and Lakes' Jack Brunati (285) also won championships.
