Boys golf: Lake County players don't complete state rounds

Bad weather suspended play in the IHSA state boys golf tournament Friday in Bloomington with most players well short of completing their first rounds of the 36-hole tournament.

The IHSA has announced that Friday's play will not count and that Saturday's 18-hole round will be for the championship.

In Class 3A, at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington, none of Stevenson's six golfers completed their rounds. Senior Mark Noonan was 1-over-par through 15 holes (tied for 14th), while sophomore and sectional-champ Conan Pan was 2 over through 12 (tied for 23rd). Defending state champ Jackson Bussell and fellow senior Alexander Kim were 4 over and 6 over, respectively, through 12 for the Patriots. Stevenson junior Jake Surane (13 over) and sophomore Billy Fishbein (15 over) completed 15 holes as well.

Mundelein senior Trevor Neumaier started on No. 10 and was 2 over through six holes.

In Class 2A, at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in Normal, Vernon Hills junior Rohan Vasudeva teed off on No. 10 and got in 12 holes. He shot a 2-over 37 on the back nine, then sandwiched a bogey on the par-5 second with pars on Nos. 1 and 3. At 3 over, he is tied for 18th.
