Boys soccer: Dundee-Crown stays unbeaten in FVC

After a scoreless first half for Dundee-Crown (16-3-3, 6-0-2), Roland Dearborn scored one in the second half and one in overtime for a 2-1 win over Hampshire. Damien Smiech had 7 saves for the Chargers.

Streamwood 3, Wauconda 1: Alex Chavez scored the first half goal for Streamwood (13-4-3) assisted by Edwin Peralta. In the second half, Ethan Satsatin and Jesus Limon each scored a goal, while Fernando Mancera and Rolando Martinez each finished with an assist. Hector Alfaro had 3 saves in goal for the Sabres.

St. Edward 7, Westminster Christian 0: Early on in this Class 1A regional opener, Westminster Christian frustrated the Green Wave with an organized and well run defense, anchored by the play of junior Dillon Leach, senior Will Kmiecak and the outstanding play of freshman goalkeeper Jackson Layne. Facing a number of quality chances by the Wave, the Warriors back line bent but did not break.

The Wave was able to finally find the back of the net off a pass from Uriel Carachure to Josh Johansen. Up 4-0 at half, the game featured a short delay due to thunder, and resumed with 34 minutes left in the game and the Wave up 6-0. Freshmen Robert Wilson finished off the scoring at the 20-minute mark of the second half, and the Wave will advance to Saturday's regional championship match.

Cary-Grove 2, Prairie Ridge 1: Michael McEvoy handled all of the scoring for Cary-Grove (5-7-2, 4-4), scoring both goals in the second half. Nick Reineking tallied 3 saves for the Trojans.

Lake Park 5, St. Charles East 3: Sabastian Carranza scored 2 goals for St. Charles East (10-7, 4-3) and Renato Avendano added an assist. Jack Settle saved 4 shots.

Crystal Lake South 2, Jacobs 1: Both goals for Crystal Lake South (14-2-3, 6-0-1) were scored in the second half, the first by Ryan Coughlin and the winning goal from Evan Carlson. Matt McCaleb saved 5 shots for the Trojans and Noah Peterson and Preston Krahl combined for 5 saves for Jacobs (8-7-4, 5-1-2).
