Boys soccer: Warren earns draw with Waukegan

Alex Senko scored in the 17th minute for Warren's boys soccer team, before Waukegan netted the equalizer in the 71st minute of the North Suburban Conference opener, which ended in a 1-1 tie Thursday.

Warren (4-1-2) got 5 saves from keeper Chris Uribe.

"Very proud of the way our team came out and played with lot of heart and passion," Blue Devils coach Jason Ahonen said. "Anytime you can combine those two elements you give yourself a chance to play at a high level, and that is what happened tonight. It was a very high-paced, high-energy game with a lot of action. Also was a wonderful environment for high school soccer game."

Mundelein: 5, Lake Forest 0: The Mustangs won the North Suburban contest, getting goals from Bryan Alba, Paul Yoo, David Bochniak, Camden Kowalski and Andy Rodriguez.

Vernon Hills 2, Niles West 1: Stephen Auw and Dima Lebedev scored for the Cougars in the Central Suburban League crossover, and keeper Nick Burrows made 12 saves.

Tyler Gonzalez had an assist for Vernon Hills (3-2-1).

"I thought we played our best 80 minutes of soccer tonight in regards to heart and effort as a collective group," Cougars coach Mike McCaulou said. "This team is starting to become a family, and tonight was just a sign of what has been happening in our daily practices. As coaches we couldn't have asked anything more of this group in tonight's game in terms of commitment to themselves and one another."

Wauconda 4, Grant 0: Chase Hayden, David Ramirez, Ethan Yost and Frankie Garcia scored for Wauconda in its Northern Lake County win.

Hayden also had an assist, as did Brandon Castellanos, Abdiel Bocarando and Matt Czerwinski. Keepers Danny Ruiz (2 saves) and Eric Guerrero (1) shared the shutout.

Libertyville 3, Stevenson 2: The Wildcats won the North Suburban Conference match.

Lake Zurich 1, Zion Benton 0: Aiman Naqvi scored the only goal, as the Bears won the North Suburban game.

Lake Zurich keeper Matt Vollmer made 5 saves in earning the shutout.

Lakes 7, North Chicago 0: Andrew Gaetano and Brady Lucas each scored twice and added an assist for the Eagles in Northern Lake County action.

Max Keenan (assist). Dom Kaspar and Timothy Pollack also scored. Goalies Patrick McMahon (5 saves) and Camden Steinert (2 saves in 20 minutes) shared the shutout for Lakes (3-3-1, 1-0 NLCC).

Round Lake 9, Antioch 0: Tony Fonseca had 2 goals for the Panthers in the Northern Lake County match.

Maqiis Haywood, Hector Tellez, Carlos Navarrete, Sergio Montes, Carlos Navarrete, Ivan Guerrero and Chuy Ramos also scored.
