Softball: Larkin rolls over Streamwood

Larkin's softball team pounded out 24 hits Saturday in a 19-7 Upstate Eight River win over Streamwood.

Kiara Villa (6 RBI), Gloria Stoltz (2 RBI) and Katie Turner (4 RBI) each had 4 hits for the Royals (6-17, 4-11) while Kathy Garcia (2B) and Liz Bowman (3 RBI) added 3 hits each.

Villa was the winning pitcher.

Hampshire 9, Sycamore 8: Miki Snider's sacrifice fly scored Katie Del Re, who had singled, in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Hampshire (13-10) to a nonconference win. Morgan Haefling (3 hits, 2 triples, 3 RBI), Delaney Rummell (3 hits, 2B, RBI) and Shai-Ann Curie (2 hits, HR) led the Whip-Purs' offense.

Cary-Grove 2nd at Fenton: The Trojans defeated Lane Tech 12-8 and then lost to Ridgewood 5-3 in the championship game of the Fenton tournament. Against Lane, Kelly Johnson (3 hits, 3B, RBI), Katy Wierczorek (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Emma Hill (2 hits, RBI), Lindsey Norberg (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Alina Krembuszewski (2 hits, RBI) and Nicollette Richardi (2B, RBI) led the C-G offense. Against Ridgewood, Johnson and Anna Whitaker had 2 hits each for the Trojans (14-8).

Burlington Central 5, Chicago Christian 3: In the semifinals of the IC Catholic tournament, Julia Barnes (2 hits, 2B), Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Peyton Curits (2B, RBI) led the Rockets (15-5) to the win. Alisyn Catenacci allowed 6 hits with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk for the win in the circle. The championship game against Trinity was then rained out.

ACC 13, Hinsdale South 3: Also at the IC tournament, Isabel Gonzalez (2 hits, 4 RBI) and winning pitcher Izzy Hernandez (2 hits) each had home runs for Aurora Central (14-14). Alheli Velazquez (2 hits, 3B, 3 RBI), Ava Wilkins (2 hits, 2 RBI), Casey Feltes (3 hits, 2B) and Sammy Martinez (2 RBI) also contributed for the Chargers.

Huntley 12, Glenbrook North 2: Tiffany Giese allowed 6 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk to run her record to 16-2 for the season in Huntley's nonconference win. She also had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI. Also producing for the Red Raiders (23-5) were Quinn Walsh (2 hits, RBI), Autumn Kasal (2 hits, RBI), Teagan O'Rilley (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI) and Grace Kutz (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI).

Montini 22, Rosary 10: Mikayal Cassidy (3 hits, 4 RBI), Riley McCue (grand slam) and Brooke Cappararelli each hit home runs for Rosary (6-6-1) in this nonconference loss. Also contributing for the Royals were Xandria Olsen (2 doubles), Peyton Dillon (3 hits, RBI) and Chloe Saltijeral (2 hits).

Fenton 12, St. Edward 11: At the Fenton tournament, Sarah Mendoza (3 hits, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI), Lindsey Mauritzen (2 hits), Ashley Miller (2 hits, 3B), Jessy Kramp (3 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI) and Hannah Dorley (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) led St. Edward.

Waukegan 13, St. Edward 8: In its second game at Fenton, Ashley Miller (2 hits), Jessy Kramp (2B, 3 RBI) and Mallory Rejman (2B, 2 RBI) paced St. Edward (10-14).
