Softball: Huntley, Jacobs win FVC games

Tiffany Giese and Sofie Tenuta each had 4 hits Monday to lead the Huntley softball team to an 11-7 Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake South.

Giese, the winning pitcher, drove in 2 runs and Tenuta had 4 RBI for the Red Raiders (12-2, 2-0). Autumn Kasal added 2 hits, Teagan O'Rilley had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Grace Kutz drove in 2 runs for Huntley.

Maddie Bush had 2 hits including 2 doubles and 4 RBI for CL South (9-3, 2-2). Baylee Kassel added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI.

Jacobs 6, McHenry 4: Kerri Healy (2B, RBI), Gaby Silva (2 hits) and Hannah Slocum (2 RBI) led Jacobs (6-4, 3-2) to this FVC win. Katie Armstrong was the winning pitcher.

Streamwood 11, Elgin 1: In the Upstate Eight River, Corinne Angke (3 hits, 2B, RBI), Gabby Cardinale (2B, RBI), Ariana Wolford (2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Becky Roncone (3 hits, 2 BRI) carried the Sabres (5-7, 3-3) to the win. Taylyr Crocilla went 4 innings and strick out 9 for the win. Caitlyn Keith had a home run for Elgin.

Batavia 18, West Aurora 4: Cassidy Carby had a home run and 3 RBI and Jaelen Lisberg (2 hits, 2 RBI) also went deep as Batavia (8-7, 5-2) rolled to this UEC win. Also producing for the Bulldogs were Kaylan Waldron (2 hits, 2 RBI), Noelle Chaney (2 hits, RBI), Molly Costigan (2 hits, RBI), Allison Bahlman (3 hits, 2 RBI) and Chloe Chvojesek (2 RBI). Sammi Wicks was the winning pitcher, striking out 5 with 1 walk. Gab Drager had 2 hits and 2 RBI for West Aurora (3-7, 3-3) and Faith Pokryfke added a triple and an RBI.

ACC 13, Wheaton Academy 1: Dani Brown (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Isabel Gonzalez (2B, RBI), Jessica Kling (3B), Alhelo Velazquez (2 hits, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) and Sammy Martinez (2 triples, 4 RBI) led the Chargers (15-4, 2-1) to a Metro Suburban win. Izzy Hernandez was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings.

Chicago Christian 6, St. Edward 4: Sarash Mendoza (2 hits, RBI), Jessy Kramp (HR, 2 RBI), Mallory Rejman (HR) and Chloe Davies (2 hits, 2B) led St. Edward (3-7, 1-4) in its MSC loss.

Geneva 7, Rosary 2: Sam Keller had a home run and a double while Katie Keller and winning pitcher Emily Viebrock each had doubles for Geneva (12-3) in a nonconference win.

Larkin 15, Westminster Christian 9: Gloria Stoltz (HR, 3B, 4 RBI) and Kathy Garcia (3 RBI) each had 3 hits to lead Larkin (4-8) to a nonconference win. Jessica Avila (2 hits, 2B), Katie Turner (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Liz Bowman (3B, 2 RBI) also contributed for the Royals. Sophie Kovachevich, Kristen Mason (RBI) and Rachel Schmitt (RBI) each had 3 hits for Westminster (1-3) while Grace Schmitt had 2 hits and an RBI and Paige Anderson 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Kaneland 9, Plainfield North 5: Olivia Ortegel and Hailey Roach (2 hits) each homered for Kaneland (9-3) in its nonconference win. Donatella Sommesi, Lexi Abruzzo and Hannah Theobald each added 2 hits for the Knights.
