Softball: Bradley's brilliance guides Grayslake Central
Grace Bradley pitched a complete game, belted a grand slam and knocked in 5 runs, leading Grayslake Central's softball team to an 11-4 win over visiting Grayslake North in Northern Lake County Conference action Thursday.
The Rams improved to 8-4 and 5-1 in the NLCC.
Grace Brown hit a pair of 2-run homers, giving her four on the season, for Grayslake North (4-3, 2-1).
Grayslake Central's attack also included Elisa Koshy's triple, double and 2 RBI, Nicole Buerger's single and 2 RBI, and Morgan Smigielski's double. Bradley's 7-inning effort in the circle featured 8 strikeouts.
Grayslake North also got 2 hits apiece from Faith Standerski and freshman Meghan Delahunty. Scout Kram tripled for the Knights.
Carmel 5, Libertyville 1: Sydney Schuda went the distance in the circle and hit a solo home run, as the Corsairs won the nonconference game.
Schuda struck out eight, walked two and allowed 3 hits. The run she allowed was unearned.
Bella Anichini was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for Carmel (10-4), and Jordan Swiatkowski went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI.
Mundelein 6, Grant 2: At Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, Breanna Adams pitched a complete game for the Mustangs, who built a 5-0 lead after two innings in the nonconference game.
Allison Lambert was 2-for-3 with a triple and 3 RBI for Mundelein, and Molly Podraza had a double. Adams scattered 5 hits, walked four and struck out four.
Grant scored twice in the seventh, gettign RBI from Calista Warmowski and Erin Bengston. Megan Mitchell was 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot for the Bulldogs.
