Girls soccer: Cullison, Weinberg pace Warren's one-sided win

Catherine Cullison and Elizabeth Weinberg each scored twice, and Warren's girls soccer team opened its season by shutting out visiting Highland Park 7-0 on Friday night.

Courtney Chomko, Amber Langosch and Morgan Liebau also scored for the Blue Devils, who led 4-0 at halftime. Megan Best, Emma Brown, Chomko, Jamie Kwon, Liza Matimore and Emily Soriaga all had assists.

Warren keeper Sarah Barbosa had 3 saves in earning the shutout.

Stevenson 1, Vernon Hills 0: Hannah Lapeire scored an unassisted goal, and Zoey Friedman earned the shutout in net with 4 saves.

Stevenson improved to 2-0.

Crystal Lake Central 1, Lakes 0: The host Tigers scored in the opening minute, and the goal held up in the nonconference match.

Molly Bakrins had 9 saves in goal for Lakes (0-2).
