Boys water polo: Barrington grabs MSL West lead
Barrington took over first place in the Mid-Suburban West boys water polo race by handling visiting Conant 8-4 on Monday.
Barrington, the defending divisional champ, improved to 2-0 in the West, while Conant is part of a four-way tie for second place at 1-1.
Steven Fischer led the Broncos with 3 goals while Albert Mohr added 2 and goalie Wyatt Lindquist made 7 saves.
Alec Hirjoi netted 3 goals for the Cougars while Harris Dibek made 5 saves.
Schaumburg 16, Hoffman Estates 3: Ryan Gustafson led the way with 5 goals and Matt Soltau had 4 to help the Saxons past the Hawks in MSL West play.
Greg Baranov paced the Hawks with 2 goals.
Buffalo Grove 12, Elk Grove 2: The visiting Bison got out in front with 6 first-quarter goals on their way to improving to 2-0 in the MSL East.
Nick Rosenorn came up with 3 goals to lead Elk Grove, which got 13 saves from Ben Jablonski and 7 from Christian Tchilikov.
Fremd 15, Palatine 7: Senior Derek Warnstedt finished with a game-high 5 goals as the visiting Vikings broke open a close game by outscoring the Pirates 5-0 in the third quarter.
Sean Warner and Sebastian Lekas both had 3 goals for Fremd, which improved to 1-1 in the MSL West.
Jerome Gabriel and Sean O'Brien both had 2 goals for the Pirates while Sam Adame, Glenn Ingebritson and Mohammad Shahin each had one.
Connor Wheatley made 5 saves for the Pirates (1-1 MSL West).
Hersey 16, Rolling Meadows 3: The visiting Huskies earned their first MSL East win of the season in dominant fashion.
