Prospect powers to key MSL East win

Prospect's boys swimming and diving team picked up a key victory in the Mid-Suburban East on Friday, claiming a 102-84 victory over host Rolling Meadows.

Central to the outcome was diving, where the Knights got a 1-2-3 finish from Aaron Busiel (193.00), Aiden Busiel (180.40) and Jack Epperson (157.35).

Rolling Meadows won both the medley and 400 free relays - but Prospect was able to deliver a 1-2 finish in the 200 free relay.

Double winners for Meadows were seniors Josh Dellorto (200 free, 100 back) and Jake Pors (100 free, 100 breast) and freshman Lukas Slifierz (200 IM, 100 fly).

Nick Lagowski and Reidar Erbe gave Prospect a key 1-2 finish in the 50 freestyle, and the Knights had a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 free from Joshua Nam, Dan Macina and Roman Myskevych.

Fremd d. Palatine: The host Vikings stayed unbeaten against Mid-Suburban League foes with a 98-77 decision against their crosstown rivals.

Fremd senior Alex Schillinger had the top times in the 200-yard IM (2:02.58) and 100 breaststroke (1:01.22). Junior Yoochan Lee won the 100 fly in 54.07 and also had legs on all three winning Fremd relays.

Among the other top finishes for Fremd were Derek Warnstedt in the 50 free (23.52), Dan Narey in diving (191.30), Paul Ponte in the 500 free (5:07.53) and Evan Stegall in the 100 back (56.34).

Palatine senior Jake Klein won the 200 free in 1:52.46.

Elk Grove d. Wheeling: Senior Mike Kulpa had the winning efforts in both the 100 free (51.38) and the 100 back (1:02.18) to help visiting Elk Grove win its MSL matchup at Wheeling 103-77.

Kulpa also had legs on the winning 200 free relay (with Nick Rosenorn, Christian Tchilikov and Jack McCabe) and on the 400 free relay (with Christian Krawec, Rosenorn and Ismael Ixtlapale).

Wheeling senior Nick Konstantos won both the 50 free (24.10) and the 100 breast (1:03.51) for Wheeling.

Barrington d. Schaumburg: Jack Hoppe had win in the 100 free (49.73) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.96) as the host Broncos topped the Saxons 120-65.

Hoppe also had legs on the winning 200 medley (1:46.78) and 400 free relays (3:30.61) for Barrington.

Senior Tyler Reynolds won twice for Schaumburg, in the 200 IM (2:07.06) and 100 fly (56.26).
