Shortstop Ramirez returns to Chicago Bandits for 2018 NPF season

Shortstop Abby Ramirez has signed to a one-year deal to return to the Chicago Bandits for the 2018 season, team officials announced Monday.

As a National Pro Fastpitch rookie, Ramirez batted .243 and added 14 RBI across 41 games with the Bandits last season.

"Abby stepped in and became a reliable, consistent performer on the offensive end for us," Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. "We're excited to bring her back."

Ramirez, a Chicago native and 2013 Illinois Gatorade Softball Player of the Year, initially signed with the Bandits on May 30, 2017 as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of her senior season at the University of Michigan.
