Girls tennis: Huntley wins sectional title

The Huntley girls tennis team won the Machesney Park Harlem sectional championship Saturday and advanced two doubles teams to next week's state finals.

The Red Raiders scored 22 points as a team to nose out Belvidere North (19) for the title.

Huntley doubles teams advancing to state are Alex Landman-Kayley Roche (2nd) and Allison Simons-Merritt Whiteside (4th).

At West Aurora: The West Aurora doubles team of Elizabeth Stefancic-Maria Goheen won the doubles title at the Blackhawks' own sectional and will compete at state next week.

At Lake Park: Jacobs finished second 24 points, one behind Lake Park. Lindsay Cunningham finished fourth in singles while the doubles team of Haley Steinkamp and Kylie Skepnek won the doubles championship.

Elgin's Marta Krakowski defeated Streamwood's Alaina Kanthaphixay 6-0, 6-2 to win the singles championship. Both players advance to state.
