Man charged with DUI after car rear-ends Bartlett police vehicle

A Franklin Park man is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after authorities said his car rear-ended a marked Bartlett police vehicle Saturday night.

Jesus Carlos-Martinez, 35, faces two Class 4 felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol while his driver's license was suspended or revoked.

He also was charged or cited with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol concentration over .08%, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license revoked, transportation of an open alcohol container in a vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

According to police, Carlos-Martinez was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt east on Lake Street in Bartlett at about 10 p.m. Saturday, when his vehicle rear-ended the patrol vehicle at the traffic signal at Oak Avenue.

Police also allege Carlos-Martinez was observed by multiple witnesses driving recklessly on Lake Street prior to the crash.

His first court hearing occurred Monday morning at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
