Fire leaves three mobile homes near Antioch uninhabitable
Authorities are investigating the cause of a Friday morning fire that damaged three mobile homes in unincorporated Antioch.
Firefighters called to Fox River Recreation campground on Route 173 just east of the river about 9:36 a.m. found heavy smoke and visible flames in several mobile homes.
Due to the extent of the fire and water supply needs multiple crews from Lake, Kenosha and McHenry counties responded, according to the Antioch Fire Department.
Water was brought in by tenders shuttled from a filling point across Route 173 at Chain O' Lakes State Park, according to fire Chief Jon Cokefair.
Crews worked about two hours to extinguish the flames and make sure the fire was completely out. Three mobile homes were rendered uninhabitable. Occupants safely escaped from one of the trailers and the other two were unoccupied.
No civilian or fire service personnel were injured.
According to its website, Fox River Recreation is a family-owned seasonal business on 25 acres available for camping or trailer rentals. The campground advertises activities for children and adults and a connection to the Chain O' Lakes.
