Early morning fire in North Barrington leaves house uninhabitable
A North Barrington home was left uninhabitable after an early morning fire today.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Lake Zurich Fire Department officials said it appeared to have started in a void space below the kitchen floor.
Residents were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors inside the single-family home on the 100 block of Old Oak Road at about 4:45 a.m., fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was extinguished within five minutes of firefighters' arrival, but they remained on scene for an additional two hours checking for hot spots and performing salvage operations.
No damage estimates were available.
