Man charged with sexually abusing fellow resident at North Aurora nursing home

A resident of a nursing home in North Aurora has been accused of sexually assaulting another resident.

Vincent D. Richardson, 28, is charged with criminal sexual abuse - unable to give consent; aggravated battery to a pregnant or handicapped person; and battery, according to the North Aurora Police Department.

Police were called at noon on Oct. 13 to the North Aurora Care Center, 310 Banbury Road.

A 35-year-old woman reported that Richardson had entered her room while she was sleeping, and "proceeded to engage in unwanted physical contact," according to a news release from police. While she called out for help, he left.

He was found elsewhere in the center.

Richardson is being detained pretrial at the Kane County jail.

His next court date is Thursday. A mental-health fitness evaluation has been ordered.
