Judge refuses to deny bail for man accused of stealing car in Downers Grove

A DuPage County judge on Tuesday refused a prosecutor's request to deny bail for a man accused of stealing a car in Downers Grove.

Judge Daniel Guerin set bail at $150,000 for Christopher Foxworth, 24, of the 7700 block of South Calumet Avenue in Chicago.

Foxworth is charged with residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Downers Grove police responded at 5:52 a.m. Friday to a home on the 1100 block of Hickory Trail. Authorities allege that Foxworth and several unidentified people got into the attached garage using a garage-door opener found in an unlocked vehicle in the driveway.

They then started a 2022 Hyundai Tucson using a key that was in the vehicle.

The Tucson's keys had an Apple AirTag, which enabled police able to trace it to a home on the 15000 block of Oak Street in Dolton.

Foxworth was arrested Monday morning at the home.

In a petition to deny bail, Assistant State's Attorney Alyssa Rabulinski said Foxworth was one of four people suspected in the theft of the car and attempts to steal vehicles in Darien and Westmont.

Rabulinski said that Foxworth was out on bond on two Cook County cases, from June and July, where he was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
