Mundelein history day focus on effect of railroads

Mundelein History Day will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Museum, 601 Noel Drive, across from Fairhaven School.

This year, the Mundelein Historical Commission is celebrating the impact of railroads on village history and the 40th anniversary of moving the depot from North Seymour Street to Noel Drive. There will be free popcorn and refreshments.

Several special features are planned, including information on the Mundelein Eucharistic Congress of 1928, which put the village on the map. The museum will be open as usual for self-guided tours. Additional docents will be on hand to discuss the museum exhibits.
