Kane State's Attorney Jamie Mosser to seek second term

Kane County State's Attorney Jamie Mosser plans to announce her bid for a second term at a fundraising event June 21, according to a social media post.

The next general election is Nov. 5, 2024.

Mosser, a Democrat, wrote in a text message that she has "more to accomplish" as state's attorney.

"For the last 2½ years, I have worked tirelessly as your Kane County State's Attorney," Mosser's text stated.

"I have actively sought to bring true criminal justice reform by creating new programming and advocating to fix concerning legislation. I have also increased the amount of highly trained prosecutors and investigators for the office so that we can swiftly prosecute those who choose to make our community unsafe."

Mosser's event will start at 5:30 p.m. June 21 at The Wine Exchange, 1 Illinois St., Suite 140, St. Charles.

After passing her bar exams in Illinois and Louisiana, Mosser served as an assistant district attorney for Orleans Parrish from 2002 to 2005.

She returned to Illinois in 2005 and served as a Kane County assistant prosecutor.

Mosser was in private practice from 2015 to 2017, when she joined Prairie State Legal Services. In 2019 she opened a law firm with her husband, Jameson, before being elected as state's attorney in 2020.

Kane County Republican Chairman Andro Lerario said the party plans to discuss Mosser's candidacy during a central committee meeting on Tuesday. At this point, Lerario said, the party does not have a challenger to Mosser lined up.

"I'm sure we will hear something soon," Lerario said.
