Round Lake man already on parole now charged with choking pregnant teen

A Round Lake man is facing charges after a fight earlier this month with a pregnant teen, officials said.

Eric Alcantara, 20, is charged with domestic battery-strangulation, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery of a pregnant person, and aggravated battery, according to Round Lake Police Chief David Prus.

Court records show Alcantara, of the 300 block of Spring Valley Way, had been paroled March 24 on two separate convictions for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in Lake and Cook counties.

The teen came to the Round Lake police station shortly after midnight May 9, Prus said, and told authorities Alcantara had choked her during an argument at his home.

She had tried to get into Alcantara's car and leave, but he broke a window to gain entry and assaulted her again, Prus said.

The girl had visible injuries on multiple parts of her body, Prus said.

Police arrested Alcantara at his home around 3 a.m. May 9, Prus said.

Alcantara is being held at the Lake County jail awaiting a June 8 preliminary hearing.
